I believe that marketing is really the art of telling a story. You need to connect with people in meaningful ways, be honest and transparent, and make sure that every element of your organization operates in harmony.

Marketing is more than simply writing a communications plan - it involves customer service, operations, and every other department. It is the total "essence" of a company or organization. Truly great marketing occurs when everything "clicks". That's when your product or service becomes remarkable, and it leads to the development of loyal fans who begin to "convert" others.

I'm currently utilizing this viewpoint in my full-time position as a User Experience Designer with Wolfram Research & Wolfram|Alpha. Our technology is amazing, and it's an incredible opportunity to be able to improve our customers' interactions with us.
